Earlier Readings of The Wish
The Wish
The West Wing
Monday, February 26, 2024

We returned to Ina’s West Wing for our third developmental reading, this time with the three one-acts from the 2022 10-minute play Festival judiciously incorporated into the script of The Wish.
We wanted to discover if this works (it does!). We also continued to edit and update the script, even adding a whole new scene delivered by the character Justice about the recent amendment to the French Constitution that guarantees the right to abortion. We celebrated France as the first country in the world to make abortion a condition of its democracy.
American Women Playwrights
Class Performance
Thursday, February 16, 2023

Ina Chadwick, our professional American woman playwright, joined us for our newly created 75 minute version of The Wish which we edited to fit the class period.
We cut scenes out and updated others to reflect current events. Student actors from Theatre Fairfield, our resident production company, were joined by Fairfield University faculty Prof. Elizabeth Hohl, Professor of Women’s History and Prof. Shannon Kelley, Director of the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program, as performers.
Script-In-Hand
On Sunday, October 30, 2022, A Chronicles workshopped a first reading of “The Wish,” which was riveting, informative, pathos-filled, yet funny-as-hell. Here’s our remarkable cast.
Back row, left to right: Dr. Martha LoMonaco, Director, Imani Gooden, Susan Jacobson, Shaquila Gooden, Sierra Nieves, Emily Ramsey, Ja’Nell Hall-Ragin, Shakia Dixon, Nefertiti Warren. Front row, left to right: Destynee McMichael, Alice Mahon, Betzabeth Castro, MJ Senat, Clara Francesca.
